The application fee must be paid through online modes like BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, RuPay Debit cards. Below is the category-wise fee details:

The crucial date for age calculation is fixed as 01.08.2026. Candidates must fulfill the following post-wise age criteria:

• For Posts with Upper Age Limit Up to 30 Years: Born not earlier than 02.08.1996 and not later than 01.08.2008.
• For Posts with Upper Age Limit Up to 32 Years (CPWD & DG Lighthouses): Born not earlier than 02.08.1994 and not later than 01.08.2008.

Upper age relaxation is admissible as per Central Government rules: SC/ST - 5 years, OBC - 3 years, PwBD (Unreserved/EWS) - 10 years, PwBD (OBC) - 13 years, PwBD (SC/ST) - 15 years, Ex-Servicemen (ESM) - 3 years after deduction of military service.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official recruitment notification for the Junior Engineer Examination 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill 1748 Group 'B' Non-Gazetted posts across various prestigious organizations of the Government of India such as CPWD, MES, BRO, CWC, and IMD. Eligible engineering diploma holders and degree candidates have a prime opportunity to secure a stable and prestigious government job offering competitive compensation and growth prospects.

The recruitment process consists of two stages of Computer Based Examinations (CBE) followed by Document Verification and physical test (if required):

• Paper-I (CBE): Qualifying in nature. Contains General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks), General Awareness (50 marks), and Domain Specific Subject (100 marks) with a negative marking of 0.25 per wrong response.
• Paper-II (CBE): Final selection test. Consists of 100 objective questions (300 marks) in the domain subject with a negative marking of 1 mark per wrong response.
• Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates based on Paper-II normalized scores will undergo Document Verification conducted directly by the respective User Department.
• Physical Efficiency Test & Medical Exam: Mandatory only for candidates opting for posts in the Border Roads Organization (BRO).

All posts included in the SSC Junior Engineer Examination 2026 are Group 'B' Non-Gazetted positions. Selected candidates will receive a basic pay scale under Level-6 (Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400/-) of the Pay Matrix of the 7th Central Pay Commission, along with standard allowances like DA, HRA, and Transport Allowance as per rules.

Only male candidates are eligible for Junior Engineer posts in the Border Roads Organization (BRO). Candidates must meet specific physical parameters like minimum height (ranging from 152 cm to 162.5 cm depending on region), chest expansion of 5 cm, and must pass a One-Mile Run in 10 minutes.

As per Notice published by the Commission, Junior Engineer Examination, 2026 (CBE) Paper-I is scheduled to be held from 02.11.2026 to 06.11.2026. The candidates can view their examination city details by logging in through the designated login module on the website of the Commission (https://ssc.gov.in/).
2. The 'Admission Certificate' for the said examinations will tentatively be available for download prior to 2-3 days of respective examination date. The same can be accessed through the designated login module on the website of the commission in a similar manner. Detailed instructions in this regard are available in the Notice published on 02.09.2026 on the website of the Commission.
3. The candidates availing the 'Own Scribe' facility, may require to do fresh Scribe registration on the Commission's website, as the registration of scribes prior to 05.11.2025 were disposed of.
4. The Scribe registration has now been integrated with the Aadhaar Authentication. Therefore, it is mandatory that all such persons, willing to enrol/appear as a scribe, may complete their fresh registration on the Commission's website.
5. Candidates who are willing to avail the 'Own Scribe' facility in any of these examinations will be required to submit their Scribe's registration number for generation of their Scribe's Entry Pass. It has been decided by the Commission that the maximum permissible age limit of persons appearing as own Scribe will be as per the updated policy. Rest of the guidelines regarding the Scribe facility will remain same as per the notice of the examination.
6. Candidates who have opted for 'own scribe' will be able to map their Scribe OTR till 27.10.2026 (11:00 PM). Scribe Entry Pass will be generated only for those candidates who successfully map their Scribe OTR.
7. Candidates must note that the exam will be held for 6 specific listed papers viz. General Engineering in the disciplines of Civil & Structural, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering & for IMD Scientific Assistant (SA) in the disciplines of Computer Science and Information Technology, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Physics from 2nd to 6th November 2026. The exam for post of JE (Telecommunication) will be scheduled on 30th November 2026 1st December 2026 for which the city live will be done 8-10 days in advance.
8. Further, certain Candidates who had opted for JE(Telecommunication) were also eligible to apply for JE (Electrical) and Scientific Assistant (SA). For such candidates who have selected Scientific Assistant (SA), the Commission has decided to consider EC/TC as the default subject for Scientific Assistant (SA). However, such candidates who wish to change their subject to CS/IT or Physics will be allowed to do so at the time of City Live till 27.10.2026 (11:00 PM). No further change will be permitted and the candidate has to appear in the subject opted by him/her which appears in the Admission Certificate.
9. As per practice, Admission Certificates for all the exams will be issued 2/3 days in advance.
